Journey II— (what’s next after Learn to Row)

Journey II — Sculling

The goal of this program is to build on the basics learned in Learn to Row (LTR) as well as introduce more advanced skills.

· Basic stroke + more advanced techniques  -  squaring up early, raising hands to the catch, etc.

· How to set a boat up - fixing balance on water, proper rigging, foot placement, etc.

· How to get a new crew together with the use of drills

· Focus on creating boat speed and run

 

Boats:  Quad, Double, and possible a single if the coach feels rower is competent

 

 

 

 

 

 

Journey II — Sweeping

The goal of this program is to introduce the rower to sweeping.  They should have a competent understanding of the basic rowing stroke and rowing terminology through the LTR and Journey II - Sculling programs.

· Introduce the sweep rowing stroke.

· Emphasize proper technique.

· Getting individuals familiar and comfortable with sweeping.

· How to set up a sweeping boat - hand heights.

· Basic rigging for sweep - hand position, feet placement, washers

 

Boats:  Coxed Four, Eight

 

 

 

 

 

Cost for Journey II is $90 per session, and can also be upgraded to a regular membership.
