General Membership GuidelinesUnder the current Membership structure a full member has an unlimited number of rows (subject to club guidelines and safety regulations). Full membership includes winter training; there is no rebate on fees should you choose not to row or train. Journey 2 (novice) membership is for one calendar month duration following completion of Journey 1 (Learn To Row); it allows twice weekly rows, at scheduled times. There are no other monthly memberships, except for a Temporary membership that is extended in unusual circumstances. This temporary membership costs $160.00 per month. The Journey 2 membership is upgradeable; the fee already paid is applied towards the cost of a full membership, provided a full membership is taken out in the same year. SRC membership fees include amounts paid to the Saskatchewan Rowing Association and Rowing Canada Aviron. Full and Winter members are all required to work a specific number of bingo's, unless these are bought out at the time of initial registration (cost $60.00 per bingo). At the date of registration the initial fee ($325 for full members) is due with 5 post dated cheques for $60.00 each that may be worked off by bingos or other approved club activities. If a credit has been earned in the specific time period the post dated cheque will be destroyed; if not it will be cashed. Members are urged to sign up for their bingo's immediately (see News and Events page for the schedule). If you cannot make your bingo, it is up to you to find someone who can. Please bear in mind that these bingo's are the primary source of funds for the Club to purchase the equipment that we all want to use. There is always a great deal of work to be done for the Club that cannot all be performed by our few paid coaches or administrators. Everyone has to pull together: please volunteer some of your time to your crew mates.
Private Boat Owners Storage FeeFee is $50.00 (May 1 / Apr 30). Boat owners provide their own insurance, as it is not included in the fee.
Journey 1/ Learn-to-Row (LTR)The Saskatoon Rowing Club (SRC) hosts LTR courses that follow Rowing Canada's Journey 1-2-3 program, with classes starting in May and continuing each month through to September. The dates change from year to year (see program schedule of yearly events), but the format remains pretty much the same. The objectives of the LTR program are to:
The Journey 1 (Learn-to-Row) program involves 8 classes with 'dryland' and 'on the water' instruction in both training boats and racing sculls. Students will also have the opportunity to practice rowing with experienced club members. Both certified coaches and experienced club members teach the classes, with a safety boat on the water during all LTR sessions. Generally, sessions last for 1 to 1.5 hours with early morning and evening classes available. The Learn-to-Row sessions and dates are posted here. After completion of the Journey 1 portion of the program, students have the option of continuing to Journey 2 as novice rowers, receiving more advanced instruction, and (depending on interest and the regatta calendar) the opportunity to participate in a race. Cost for Journey 1 is $90.00; cost for Journey 2 is an additional $90.00, and can also be upgraded to a full membership.
